Pets Best was founded in 2005 by Dr. Jack Stephens who was looking to help fellow pet lovers and owners. The company offers flexible pricing with low premiums and no age limits. Pets Best focuses on customer service which has resulted in an excellent Trustpilot score of 9.4/10 and a BBB rating of A+.
#2 – Nationwide
Nationwide Pet Insurance has been one of the top providers since its founding in 1980. Policyholders have the ability to personalize their coverage from the beginning of the process and have access to comprehensive resources on the Nationwide website. Nationwide also offers unique coverage to dogs, cats, birds, and exotic animals.
#3 – Trupanion
Trupanion offers high-quality customer care with the primary focus on helping the customer’s furry friends. Pet owners have access to coverage of up to 90% of veterinary bills on select ailments when the deductible is met. Trupanion does not have payout limits and 65% of reimbursement claims are settled on the same day the request is received.
#4 – Embrace
Embrace was founded in 2003 by two Wharton MBA business school graduates. Embrace has “nose-to-tail” comprehensive coverage and is underwritten to help protect pet owners from the potentially high cost veterinary care. The company also has an extensive list of discounts including a spay or neuter discount, multi-pet discount, annual pay discount, military discount, and PennHIP tested discount.
#5 – PetPlan
PetPlan originally founded in the United Kingdom back in 1976 but started online in the U.S in 2006. The company offers numerous educational resources and a 24/7 customer service with live chat established to help its customers. PetPlan offers unlimited coverage including hereditary conditions and even alternative therapies.
